The Affordable Care Act dramatically expanded Medical Assistance coverage. The income limit is now based on Adjusted Gross Income, rather than Gross Income. Children are covered at 275% of Federal Poverty Guideline until 18 years old. With the Cost Effective Health Insurance program, you can qualify for MA even if you have insurance through an employer. If you qualify, your premium is reimbursed.
Many of our members who might qualify for MA are not aware. For example, if you have a family of three, with a child up to 18 years old, and earn less than $59,730 per year, you may qualify. For a family of four with two children, you may qualify if you earn under $72,050. Those income numbers are higher if you are pregnant or you have a child under two. There is no asset test.
